18. Allowances[Varied by PR996846]18.1 Vehicle allowance<strong>Broadcasting</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Recorded</strong> <strong>Entertainment</strong> <strong>Award</strong> <strong>2010</strong>(a)(b)Where the employer requires an employee to use their own vehicle in thecourse of their employment the employer must pay the employee an allowanceof $0.74 per kilometre.Where the employer requires an employee to use their own motorcycle in thecourse of their employment the employer must pay the employee an allowanceof $0.37 per kilometre.18.2 First aid allowanceWhere an employer appoints an appropriately qualified employee as a first aidattendant the employee will be paid an allowance of 2% of the st<strong>and</strong>ard ratecalculated weekly or hourly as the case may be.18.3 Working late <strong>and</strong> working earlyIf an employee not permanently employed on night work is engaged until such anhour that the ordinary means of public transport are not available, or is required tostart work before their normal means of transport are available, they will be allowedthe necessary expense of transport to or from their home, or transport will beprovided by the employer. This clause does not apply to an employee to whom theprovisions of clause 32.8 applies.18.4 Uniform allowanceThe employer will pay an employee an allowance of $1.51 per rostered day up to amaximum of $7.41 per week, where the employee is responsible for the laundering<strong>and</strong>/or cleaning of a uniform.18.5 Telephone rental allowanceIf the employer requires an employee to have a telephone the employer must meetthe rental cost.18.6 Language allowance[18.6 inserted by PR996846 from 28May10](a)Where an Indigenous employee is required to have a recognised proficiency inEnglish as well as that employee’s traditional Aboriginal <strong>and</strong> Torres StraitIsl<strong>and</strong>er language for the performance of the employee’s duty, the employerwill pay the employee an allowance as follows:(i)Level 1—159.66% of the st<strong>and</strong>ard rate per annumLevel 1 is an elementary level. This level is appropriate for employeeswho are capable of using a minimal knowledge of language for generalcommunication.24 MA000091
