DANCES<strong>Middle</strong> <strong>School</strong> DancesAttendance at school dances is a privilege that must be earned. All students must meet thefollowing criteria to attend:1. Less than 10 noon-hour detentions2. Less than 5 principal-assigned detentions3. No out-of-school/in-school suspensions4. No unexcused absencesAny student who has to be removed from a dance will not be allowed to attend any more dances for theremainder of the school year. Criteria for attending dances are re-set following each dance.** Note: These behavior criteria may also be applied to quarterly OSCAR Celebrations.DISCIPLINE (Guidelines for Student Behavior)In order to create an atmosphere in which all students are provided with an opportunity for socialand academic growth, each student at <strong>Rochelle</strong> <strong>Middle</strong> <strong>School</strong> has a responsibility to demonstrate selfdisciplineand appropriate conduct. If a student chooses not to comply with certain behavior expectations,then he or she must be willing to accept the appropriate consequences.Hallway BehaviorStudents are expected to follow behavior guidelines outlined in the behavior matrix while in thehallways between classes. In addition, students must have a hall pass to be in the hallway during class.To make the most effective use of the passing periods, students should walk on the right side of thehallways. Students who act inappropriately in the hallways may be subject to disciplinary action fromany teacher or any staff member.Restrooms:Restrooms must be used only with permission; therefore, no one should use a restroom duringpassing periods. Only one student will be allowed to leave class to use the restroom at a time. If sent tothe office by a teacher, students are not permitted to use the restroom on the way to the office. Abusingrestroom privileges may result in use restrictions and is up to the discretion of individual teachers, teamsor administration.Internet UsageWith the educational opportunity of the Internet also comes responsibility. All students musthave a signed Acceptable Use Policy on file in the office prior to accessing the Internet for anyreason. Inappropriate use of the Internet, such as intentional viewing or attempting to viewinappropriate websites or material will result in the loss of privilege to use this resource and may result inother disciplinary action.O.S.C.A.R. ./ P.B.I.S (Positive Behavior Intervention System)RMS is committed to P.B.I.S., a component of R.T.I. This program focuses on improving ourschool’s ability to teach and support positive behavior of all students. It is a proactive systems approachof prevention and response to classroom and school discipline issues. Emphasis is on developing andmaintaining positive school climate and safe environments. The following is the expectations matrix:
