To provide opportunities to identify and learn to use resources such as the library,the Internet, reference books, and other community resourcesiv. To allow for more in-depth exploration of topics than is possible during classtimev. To help students develop time management, study, and organizational skillsII.vi.To provide parents with insights into what is being taught in the classroom andthe progress of their childrenExpectationsA. <strong>School</strong>work is most beneficial when teacher expectations are well communicated,students take responsibility for their schoolwork, and parents support these efforts. Assuch, the responsibilities of teachers, students and parents with regard to schoolwork arelisted below:B. Teachers can help by:i. Informing students and parents of the school’s schoolwork policyii. Assigning relevant schoolwork activities that reinforce classroom learningiii. Ensuring that students are aware of what is expected of them, and how their workwill be assessediv. Giving students sufficient time to complete their schoolwork.v. Communicating at team time regarding quantity of schoolwork assigned by theteam of teachers.vi. Maintaining schoolwork records and providing feedback to students and parentsutilizing SMPASS weekly.C. Students can help by:i. Being aware of the school’s schoolwork policyii. Asking questions when necessary to clarify the assignmentiii. Thoroughly recording schoolwork assignments in the students agendaiv. Completing quality schoolwork within the given time framev. Informing parents of schoolwork expectationsvi. Seeking assistance from teachers and parents if difficulties arisevii.
