Duties:-The Director, Employment & Training is the head of the department and ex-officioState Apprenticeship Advisor. He is incharge of implementation of the following twoCentral Actsin the State namely viz.,1) Employment Exchanges (Compulsory Notification of Vacancies)Act,1959.2) Apprenticeship Act,1961.He will be assisted in the day to day functions of the Directorate by the two JointDirectors of the Training Wing and one Joint Director of Employment Wing with thesupporting staff consisting of 8 Deputy Directors and 15 Assistant Directors andministerial staff. There are 4 Joint Directors in Training Wing placed at Bangalore,Hubli, Mysore, Gulbarga. These officers co-ordinate the activity of the Training Wing intheir respective divisions and report to the Director. There are 104 GovernmentIndustrial Training Institutes, 123 Grant-in-aid Industrial Training Institutes and 536Private Industrial Training institutes. Each district is having an Employment Exchange.

He is also the prosecutingauthority in respect of defaultingestablishments under the said Act.3. He is head of the Department andresponsible forall affairs of the Department.
