� Resp<strong>on</strong>d Directly to <strong>Bullying</strong> Situati<strong>on</strong>s—details specific interventi<strong>on</strong>s<br />

that support children who have been bullied, and outlines a threelevel<br />

system <strong>for</strong> resp<strong>on</strong>ding to students who bully. It also suggests<br />

ways of using “restorative interventi<strong>on</strong>s” to give the child who has<br />

bullied an opportunity to make amends to the child who has been<br />

bullied.<br />

� Address <strong>Bullying</strong> through Classroom Less<strong>on</strong>s—c<strong>on</strong>tains less<strong>on</strong> plans<br />

in support of the school-wide bullying-preventi<strong>on</strong> plan. The less<strong>on</strong><br />

plans are designed to be implemented <strong>on</strong>ce the school plan is in<br />

place. The less<strong>on</strong> plans are provided in five grade groupings:<br />

• Kindergarten<br />

• Grade 1<br />

• Grades 2-3<br />

• Grades 4-5<br />

• Grades 6-7<br />

At each grade grouping, the less<strong>on</strong>s are divided into three modules:<br />

• Module A: Defining <strong>Bullying</strong><br />

• Module B: The School Plan<br />

• Module C: Dealing with <strong>Bullying</strong><br />

Links to the pers<strong>on</strong>al planning K-7 curriculum are detailed, as well<br />

as references to the curricula <strong>for</strong> English language arts K-7 and<br />

Fine arts K-7 (dance, drama, music, and visual arts).<br />

� Resources—categorizes print and multi-media resources and<br />

government agencies that can be used to support implementati<strong>on</strong><br />

of the school-wide plan.<br />

Implementati<strong>on</strong> Support<br />

A cadre of BCTF/BCPVPA professi<strong>on</strong>al development facilitators is available<br />

to assist schools and districts interested in implementing <str<strong>on</strong>g>Focus</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>on</strong><br />

<strong>Bullying</strong>. Trainers are available in most regi<strong>on</strong>s of the province. C<strong>on</strong>tact<br />

the B.C. Safe School Centre (1-888-224-SAFE) if you are interested in<br />

arranging a professi<strong>on</strong>al development opportunity.<br />
