The focus of this less<strong>on</strong> is <strong>on</strong> helping students recognize when it is<br />

appropriate to report bullying situati<strong>on</strong>s rather than attempting to<br />

deal with it themselves. Debunking students’ myths about not<br />

telling is a key comp<strong>on</strong>ent and r equir es the teacher to r efute some of<br />

the students’ beliefs.<br />

Instructi<strong>on</strong>al Approach<br />

This less<strong>on</strong> uses a script al<strong>on</strong>g with a group brainstorming and discussi<strong>on</strong><br />

exercise to help students explor e when it is appr opriate to r eport<br />

bullying, and reas<strong>on</strong>s students may be reluctant to do so. An opti<strong>on</strong>al<br />

video approach is also suggested.<br />
