Imagine a School Without <strong>Bullying</strong><br />

The purpose of this less<strong>on</strong> is to provide a follow-up to the school<br />

assembly, ensure that students understand the basics of the school<br />

plan, and begin implementati<strong>on</strong> of the plan by involving the<br />

students in creating artwork to decorate the hallways.<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>Focus</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>on</strong> key points to emphasize with students. Tailor the less<strong>on</strong> to<br />

emphasize the points that are important <strong>for</strong> your students.<br />

Preparati<strong>on</strong><br />

To prepare <strong>for</strong> this less<strong>on</strong>, you will need to make some generalizati<strong>on</strong>s<br />

about the primary students’ discussi<strong>on</strong>s, journal entries, and/or surveys<br />

and identify in<strong>for</strong>mati<strong>on</strong> to share with students. Include a few key<br />

points from the older students’ surveys. In additi<strong>on</strong>, you will need to<br />

determine which aspects of the school plan you will share with your<br />

class.<br />

Instructi<strong>on</strong>al Approach<br />

This less<strong>on</strong> uses a number of approaches to help students imagine a<br />

school envir<strong>on</strong>ment free of bullying. Approaches include a less<strong>on</strong> script,<br />

visualizati<strong>on</strong>, and a visual arts activity.<br />

Insight and Understanding<br />

� What do I know about bullying?<br />

� How might a student who is bullied feel? How might students who<br />

watch bullying behaviour happen feel about it?<br />

� What would school be like of there were no more bullying?<br />

How would it be different? How would students feel?<br />
