LAWFrom small law firms to the United Nations’International Court of Justice, the legal professionshapes every aspect of our society, politics, andeconomies. Law regulates how we buy and sell goodsand services, and how we govern ourselves. Promotingresearch and te<strong>ac</strong>hing of the higheststandard in the fields of internationalshipping and trade law, the Institute alsofosters cooperation with other <strong>ac</strong>ademicinstitutions and professional, commercial,shipping, insurance and businessorganisations.The Centre for Environmental and EnergyLaw and Policy (CEELP) promotesexcellence in research and te<strong>ac</strong>hing inenvironmental and energy law and seeksto foster links in its areas of expertisebetween <strong>ac</strong>ademia and local andnational governments, the community,industry and the professions. CEELP isaffiliated to the IUCN Academy ofEnvironmental Law which aims to promotesustainable development in law and policywithin Wales and beyond. It providesadvice to stakeholders in the sector and todecision makers on environment andenergy related policy areas of the WelshGovernment.Sefydliad Hywel Dda – The Hywel DdaInstitute provides leadership, direction,coordination and visibility for researchwithin the School which falls under thebroad heading of ‘Legal Wales’. With <strong>ac</strong>ommitment to interdisciplinary and crossinstitutionalresearch, its intellectual remitincludes constitutional law and devolution,the statutory output of the NationalAssembly of Wales within its fields ofcompetence, bilingualism and languagerights, law and policy, legal history, theapplication of international, European andUK domestic law in Wales.
