ASSOCIATE IN ARTS DEGREE<br />

This <strong>program</strong> provides students with the first two years<br />
of study toward a bachelor of science <strong>degree</strong> at a fouryear<br />
college or university. <strong>St</strong>udents take fundamental<br />
science and humanities courses and cont<strong>in</strong>ue their studies<br />
<strong>in</strong> specialized areas such as biology, chemistry and other<br />
specialties after they transfer.<br />
The life sciences <strong>in</strong>clude excit<strong>in</strong>g fields that are lead<strong>in</strong>g the way<br />
<strong>in</strong>to the “age of biology.” Professions with<strong>in</strong> the life science field<br />
vary widely from the health sciences to biological sciences. Areas<br />
of study <strong>in</strong>clude biotechnology, plant science, medical sciences,<br />
ecology, dental science, chiropractor and pharmacists.<br />
In addition to a high school diploma or GED certificate, other<br />
requirements are necessary for enrollment <strong>in</strong> the life science<br />
<strong>program</strong>. For specific <strong>in</strong>formation contact the campus Admissions<br />
office.<br />
<strong>St</strong>udents should make a decision early <strong>in</strong> their college studies<br />
concern<strong>in</strong>g which college or university they would like to attend.<br />
They are strongly advised to familiarize themselves with the<br />
<strong>program</strong>s at the schools to which they plan to transfer and work<br />
with advisors at <strong>St</strong>. <strong>Louis</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong> to plan a <strong>program</strong><br />
