The majority of the large projectsare done and the bridge workers are currently working on smaller projects such asrailings and lighting. The alley directly to the west has been closed and will bereconstructed with concrete. Once the City has ownership of the bridge it will closeWalnut Street from Second to Levee. This street area will be removed and the areawill be turned into a green space. The board recommended some type of advertisingbillboards at the town entry points to the effects of “Walk the Historic MeridianBridge, Downtown Yankton” to promote out of town visitors to use the bridge. Tryto find land the City owns so no lease needs to be paid for the billboards. The bridgeneeds to be made enduring to the public without limitations to have as many users aspossible. A recommendation was made to allow mobility carts and wheel chairs forolder generations to use the bridge. Discussed the use of golf carts on the bridge alsoand will discuss this topic again in the future.E) High School Intramurals- The recreation department contacted the high schoolactivities office and was informed that the high school will be conducting intramuralsagain this year. If something would change and the high school not offer them, therecreations department will evaluate the situation and determine how it can beinvolved with these activities.F) General Discussion- Grass seed is in and watered in Tripp Park. They will plan tospray for weeds the first week in November and will spray again in the spring. Theboat dock has reopened in Riverside Park as water levels have gone down. The ADAdock will need to be inspected for damage before it is reopened. The parks staff hasbeen reseeding areas of dead grass from the high waters in Riverside Park.IV) Other Businessa.
