Ülkemizde sosyal veekonomik yapıda meydana gelen sürekli ve hızlı değişim; Türkiyeİstatistik Kurumu tarafından, veri düzeyinde, güvenilir, güncel vekapsamlı şekilde yansıtılmalıdır.In any country the statistical infrastructure is bound to influence alldecision-making processes and scientific research. Since rapidstructural change is taking place in both the social and economicfields in our country, the Turkish Statistical Institute carries the taskof reflecting these changes at the data level with minimum errorand in the shortest time possible.İstatistik verilerin kapsam ve güncelliğinin yanı sıra, zaman vemekan içerisindeki zenginliği de araştırma ve karar almaya yönelikkantitatif analizlerin yapılabilmesi için kaçınılmaz olmaktadır.To be able to carry out quantitative analysis for research anddecision-making, it is necessary that the statistical data be richalong time scale as well as recent and comprehensive.Türkiye İstatistik Kurumu, toplumsal ve ekonomik yapıyla ilgili veriüretimi süreçlerinde meydana gelen değişiklikler karşısında yaşananzorluklara rağmen, istatistik ve diğer bilim dallarının araçları ilesayısız konularda yaptığı sayım anket ve araştırmalarla zamanperspektifi içerisinde tutarlı, kapsamlı, güncel ve karşılaştırılabilirserilerle ülke istatistik altyapısını oluşturmayı hedeflemiştir. Veriüretim süreçleri kapsamında serilerin oluşturulamadığı dönemlerdeise Kurum, özellikle zaman serisi boyutunda akademik çalışmalarve/veya araştırmalar yapan kullanıcılar için farklı dönemlere aitistatistiki bilgilerin devamlılığını sağlamak adına azami gayretgöstermiştir.The Turkish Statistical Institute aims to constitute the countrystatistical infrastructure, notwithstanding the changes in datagenerating processes associated with rapid development ineconomy, society and culture, by obtaining time series which areconsistent with its numerous surveys and census and comparablealong the time scale using the methods and means of science andstatistics. In cases where changes in data generating processescannot be remedied by the changes in data production processesand consistent time series could not be formed, the TurkishStatistical Institute has been resorting to scientific methods to linkand transform series.Bu amaçla, 1923 yılından günümüze temel istatistik göstergelerinbir arada sunulduğu “ İstatistik Göstergeler 1923-2009 ” adlıbu yayını ilk olarak 1991 yılı Ağustos ayında yayımlamış olanKurumumuz, tarihi süreci sayılarla kayıt altına alarak, geçmiştegözlenen gelişmeleri, bilim ve istatistiğin bakış açısıyla, değeryargılarından bağımsız ve tarafsız bir yaklaşım içerisinde geleceğeaktarmaktadır. Sosyal, ekonomik ve kültürel alanlarda kapsadığı 20bölümle Cumhuriyet Dönemi Türkiye’si için önemli bir başvurukaynağı haline gelmiş olan yayın, her yıl CD ve internet ortamındave ayrıca beş yılda bir basılı yayın olarak sunulmaktadır.With this aim, TurkStat has been one of the important instutionscontributing to the process of writing history in an impartial fashionby recording development using the methods and means of scienceand statistics with the publication called “Statistical Indicators 1923-2009” which presents basic statistical indicators in the periodbetween 1923 and the present time and was published first inAugust 1991.
