3461984 Honda VF750FERegistration no. B786 WHKFrame no. RC15-2103933Engine no. RC07E-2203144Honda’s 1970s domination of the middle and heavyweight classeshad been achieved with a succession of across-the-frame, inlinefours, but towards the end of the decade the Japanese manufacturerbegan to turn increasingly to vee-configuration engines, the firstfour-cylinder example, the shaft-driven VF750 tourer, arriving in1982. Smaller VF400 and VF500 v-fours followed, together with therange-topping VF1000F and VF1000R, while the sportier VF750Fof 1983 switched to chain drive and came with those two 1980s‘must haves’: a 16” front wheel and anti-dive forks. Today’s VFR800Fis a direct descendent of the original VF750, making it one ofHonda’s longest-running models. The original is already approachingclassic status. This particular VF750 was acquired by the vendor inNovember 2011 having belonged to the previous owner for some 21years. The machine has not been used since it was treated to a full‘last nut and bolt’ restoration in 2014, with no part left untouched.Described by the vendor as in generally excellent condition, thiscollectible classic Honda is offered with an expired MoT certificate(1994) and V5C registration document.£2,500 - 3,500€3,500 - 4,9003471989 Kawasaki 997cc ZX10Registration no. F867 PNKFrame no. ZXT00B-014914Engine no. ZXT00AE042233Kawasaki followed up its trend-setting GPz900R superbike of 1984with the GPZ1000RX, which after only two years in production wassuperseded by the ZX10. Introduced for 1988, the latter boasted analuminium ‘E-box’ frame and was 35lbs lighter than its steel-framedpredecessor. The extensively revised 16-valve water-cooled enginenow produced 137bhp, which was good enough for a top speedknocking on 170mph. UK customers had to make do with ‘only’125bhp courtesy of the industry’s ‘gentlemen’s agreement’ to restrictmaximum power, though the missing horses were easily reinstatedby modifying the carburettor tops to enable the slides to open fully.Bodywork was similar to the outgoing GPz’s but featured a higherscreen giving greater wind protection to the rider. This exampleof Kawasaki’s cutting-edge 1980s superbike benefits from recentrestoration of the bodywork and brakes, a full re-spray, new decalsand a full service. Described by the vendor as in generally excellentcondition, this beautiful future-classic is offered with a quantity ofexpired MoTs, V5C registration document and MoT to December2015. The current odometer reading is 21,563 miles.£2,500 - 3,000€3,500 - 4,200Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lotprior to bidding.
