388 Ω Nc.1982 Suzuki GSX1100 KatanaFrame no. GSX110X-527169Engine no. GSX110X-160193‘It’s a classic.’ With those words Bike magazine concluded itsglowing road test of Suzuki’s GSX1100 Katana in February 1984,noting that, despite having been around virtually unchanged for threeyears, the big Suzie was still the undisputed ‘King of the Street’.Styled by the German firm of Target Design under the direction ofBriton Jan Fellstrom and first seen at the 1980 Cologne Show, theKatana represented a bold effort to produce an uncompromisingsports bike in the European mould. The result was a machine thatcombined straight-line speed with secure handling . The speedyelevation of the original to the ranks of motorcycling style iconprompted the re-introduction of the model in Japan in the 1990s,though the second-generation version had to make do with 96bhprather than the original’s 111 horses. Currently displaying a total of41,786 kilometres (approximately 26,000 miles) on the odometer, thisun-restored example appears fundamentally original with the obviousexceptions of the front indicators and 4-into-1 exhaust system. Soldstrictly as viewed, the machine is subject to 20% import tax.£1,000 - 1,500€1,400 - 2,100Please note this vehicle is subject to 20% import tax.3891970 Yamaha 347cc YR5Registration no. HUK 35JFrame no. R5-008327Engine no. R5-008327The traditional British method of building a 350 - to sleeve downa 500 - usually resulted in an overweight sluggard with little moreperformance than a 250. The customary Japanese approach -over-boring a 250 - achieved exactly the opposite: a machineas light as its quarter-litre sibling yet with sufficient performanceto see off most 500s. Yamaha’s YR5 is a case in point: an overboredYDS7, it weighed a little over 300lbs, produced 36bhp fromits piston-ported two-stroke engine, and was good for around100mph. The cycle parts bore close resemblance to the TD2 andTR3 racers’, so good handling was assured. Introduced in 1970,the YR5 was superseded by the reed-valve induction RD350 in1973. This beautiful YR5 was imported from the USA in 2012 andre-commissioned in 2013. Described as a ‘partial restoration’,works carried out in January 2015 included new paintworkand replacement parts fitted as required. A nice, clean originalexample, the machine is offered with MoT to April 2016 and V5Cregistration document.£2,000 - 3,000€2,800 - 4,200390Brenderup 750kg boxed motorcycle trailerFrame no.
