The <strong>2008</strong> <strong>EIB</strong> Conference in Economics and Finance – held at <strong>EIB</strong> headquarters in Luxembourg on<br />

June 12 – examined the role of infrastructure investment in economic growth and cohesion,<br />

shedding light on a wide range of policy-relevant issues. These included the composition<br />

of government investment; its fiscal implications; the determinants and productivity effects of<br />

infrastructure investment; and the effects of infrastructure on the location of economic activities.<br />
