There are at present many conferencesthroughout the world discussing and sharing potential solutions on sustainable foodproduction at the macro and micro levels. Although we may not all agree on theprocess, it is nevertheless urgent that governments have access to opinions ofindustry practitioners.The 5th World Congress for Conservation Agriculture and 3rd Farming SystemsDesign Conference has seen the benefit of cooperating to offer a broader spectrum ofideas working towards sustainable agricultural practices. The Congress has also beenjoined by Landcare International to offer a natural resources management perspectiveto food production. The support of the Australian government at the State andFederal level, research organisations, the United Nations Food and AgricultureOrganisation, Australian universities along with local farmer groups have made this atruly inclusive congress.The themes include fundamental farm practices, technology designs, policyframeworks, knowledge sharing, environment and policy initiatives; the details ofwhich are on our website. Spanning four days in the Australian spring of 2011, 26-29September, we look forward to welcoming you to share your ideas for the future offood production. Many of you would be aware of the floods in Brisbane and theLockyer valley in South East Queensland, let me assure you as a resident of the10
egion, that the clean up and rebuilding started as soon as the waters receded and wewill be more then ready to welcome delegates. The winter and spring are dryermonths and we do not anticipate the weather problems of the usual summer rains.Our field day site at the University of Queensland Gatton campus in the LockyerValley is in full production with a crop of sorghum ready for harvest.This is an important global conference; we value your experience and look forward towelcoming you to Brisbane, Australia.
