The fund provides immediate support designed<strong>to</strong> guarantee long-term benefits for our natural lands, and <strong>the</strong> people,plants and animals that inhabit <strong>the</strong>m.Chad Corbin Memorial ScholarshipTh<strong>is</strong> fund was set up by Jamie Corbin and Jay Dunham in memory ofChad, Jamie’s 31-year-old son who valued education as a means <strong>to</strong> betterhimself. Their v<strong>is</strong>ion for <strong>the</strong> fund <strong>is</strong> <strong>to</strong> help young adults who want <strong>to</strong>better <strong>the</strong>mselves by going <strong>to</strong> a college or trade school.Michael Cowett FundTh<strong>is</strong> fund was establ<strong>is</strong>hed <strong>to</strong> support general charitable purposes.Creative Catalyst FundThe <strong>San</strong> <strong>Diego</strong> Foundation will help advance <strong>the</strong> careers of art<strong>is</strong>ts byproviding opportunities <strong>to</strong> develop new work in collaboration withsponsoring nonprofit arts and culture organizations. Art<strong>is</strong>ts at all stagesof <strong>the</strong>ir careers – emerging, mid-career and establ<strong>is</strong>hed – will receivegrants that afford gifts of time, space and men<strong>to</strong>rship as <strong>the</strong>y deepen<strong>the</strong>ir practice, experiment with new art forms, or work across d<strong>is</strong>ciplines<strong>to</strong> enhance <strong>the</strong> spirit of creativity throughout our region.Creativity in <strong>the</strong> ClassroomThe Creativity in <strong>the</strong> Classroom Fund was developed by The Foundation’sArts & Culture Working Group and will provide support throughou<strong>to</strong>ur region <strong>to</strong> ensure that every day, every child, in every school hasaccess <strong>to</strong> learning in and through <strong>the</strong> arts. Grants will be made forprogram assessment, research, collaboration, and advocacy with a goalof elevating overall student achievement and providing <strong>the</strong> greates<strong>to</strong>pportunities for success.Cushman Foundation ScholarshipThe Cushman family has been a part of <strong>the</strong> <strong>San</strong> <strong>Diego</strong> community forgenerations. It <strong>is</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir love of <strong>San</strong> <strong>Diego</strong> and belief in <strong>the</strong> transformativepower of education that first interested <strong>the</strong>m in establ<strong>is</strong>hing a scholarshipfund. The Cushman family believes that financial hardships should notprevent students from achieving <strong>the</strong>ir education dreams. Bob <strong>is</strong> currently amember of The <strong>San</strong> <strong>Diego</strong> Foundation’s Board of Governors. H<strong>is</strong>d<strong>is</strong>tingu<strong>is</strong>hed career includes serving as a research physic<strong>is</strong>t at AT&TBell Labora<strong>to</strong>ries, Chancellor of University of California, <strong>San</strong> <strong>Diego</strong>(UCSD), and President of <strong>the</strong> ten-campus <strong>the</strong> University of California(UC) system.
