Community & Charitable FoundationsLa Jolla Community FoundationThe focus of <strong>the</strong> La Jolla Community Foundation (LJCF) <strong>is</strong> <strong>to</strong> enhance <strong>the</strong> community experience for people wholive and work in La Jolla. LJCF collaborates with o<strong>the</strong>rs in <strong>the</strong> community <strong>to</strong> improve <strong>the</strong> aes<strong>the</strong>tic appeal of <strong>the</strong>community; and <strong>to</strong> create inviting cultural and recreational spaces that bring people in La Jolla <strong>to</strong>ge<strong>the</strong>r. Th<strong>is</strong> year,<strong>the</strong> LJCF has truly succeeded in enhancing <strong>the</strong> aes<strong>the</strong>tic of <strong>the</strong> community through its support of <strong>the</strong> “Murals of LaJolla” project. With 39 current members, <strong>the</strong> LJCF has granted more than $72,000 since its inception, and continues<strong>to</strong> grow and plan future investments in <strong>the</strong> La Jolla community.Art<strong>is</strong>t Kim MacConnel’s first installation.When <strong>the</strong> City of <strong>San</strong> <strong>Diego</strong> sought<strong>to</strong> reduce costs by eliminating <strong>the</strong>fire pits on M<strong>is</strong>sion Bay, La JollaShores, and o<strong>the</strong>r beaches in 2010,<strong>the</strong> La Jolla Community Foundationstepped forward <strong>to</strong> fund <strong>the</strong>La Jolla fire pits and was a leaderin helping <strong>to</strong> retain necessaryfunds for <strong>the</strong> preservation of<strong><strong>the</strong>se</strong> recreational assets.
