Community & Charitable FoundationsLa Jolla Community FoundationThe focus of the La Jolla Community Foundation (LJCF) is to enhance the community experience for people wholive and work in La Jolla. LJCF collaborates with others in the community to improve the aesthetic appeal of thecommunity; and to create inviting cultural and recreational spaces that bring people in La Jolla together. This year,the LJCF has truly succeeded in enhancing the aesthetic of the community through its support of the “Murals of LaJolla” project. With 39 current members, the LJCF has granted more than $72,000 since its inception, and continuesto grow and plan future investments in the La Jolla community.Artist Kim MacConnel’s first installation.When the City of San Diego soughtto reduce costs by eliminating thefire pits on Mission Bay, La JollaShores, and other beaches in 2010,the La Jolla Community Foundationstepped forward to fund theLa Jolla fire pits and was a leaderin helping to retain necessaryfunds for the preservation ofthese recreational assets. Oceanside Charitable FoundationTom Reeser, Members Tom Nunan and Ellen and Kevin Stotmeister.The Oceanside Charitable Foundation (OCF) has granted $52,000 over the past two years. Last grant season,OCF made a great impact on the crisis of hunger in Oceanside through grants that supported expansion ofthe Brother Benno Foundation’s food distribution center and the delivery of thousands of pounds of freshfood every month by the San Diego Food Bank. The OCF also sparked a new food delivery project for seniorsand raised awareness with a community forum. As OCF enters its third year of grantmaking, it is focusing onprograms impacting the environment in Oceanside.
