A vocal catalyst for positivechange, she is co-founder of San Diego Social VenturePartners (SVP) and SVP International. She is also afounding member of the San Diego Women’s Foundation,past-chair of the UCSD Undergraduate Scholarship Council, and is a UC San Diegotrustee. A member of The San Diego Foundation board from 2000-2009, she alsochaired its North County Coastal Civic Alliance, and was vice chair of The Foundation’sScholarship Committee. She is also on the Strategic Planning Committee and the SanDiego Regional Disaster Fund board. In addition to being past president of the UCSDStaff Association, she served the UC System at Regents’ meetings as chairof the UC System-wide Staff Council. Her career in university administrationconcluded at UCSD.James CahillFormer Manager, The Price Group, LLCJames retired as manager of The Price Group, LLC. Hewas responsible for the investment and managementof the financial portfolio of Sol Price, the founder ofthe Price Club chain, and The Price Family CharitableFund. He currently serves as chairman of the board ofdirectors of The Foundation’s Charitable Real EstateFoundation. James’ past community involvementincludes board positions with Neighborhood National Development Bank, CitiLinkInvestment Company, Accion International, San Diego Incubator Corporation, CertifiedDevelopment Corporation, and San Diego Innovative Pre-School Project.John Cambon, PhDPrincipal, Regent Partners, LLCJohn brings to The Foundation and to the InvestmentCommittee more than 30 years of experience in themanagement and financing of early stage companies,corporate planning and investment management.He is a principal with Regent Partners, LLC, a privatefinancial group that provides financial services andbridge financing to emerging growth companies. Priorto Regent Partners, John was a partner at Commercial Bridge Capital, LLC. He hasserved as CEO and director of Genetic BioSystems, Inc., president and director ofAMBIS, Inc., and CEO and director of Digivision, Inc. John is the former president ofthe UCSD Alumni Association, is a member of the UCSD Foundation board, and isalso a member and past chair of the UCSD Foundation’s Investment Committee. Inaddition, John served as a consultant to the Investment Advisory Committee of theRegents of the University of California. John holds a BA in economics from UC Irvineand a PhD in economics from UCSD.Constance M. Carroll, PhDChancellor, San Diego CommunityCollege DistrictPrior to her appointment as chancellor in 2004,Constance served in presidential roles at Mesa College ofthe San Diego Community College District, SaddlebackCollege of the South Orange County Community CollegeDistrict, and Indian Valley College. She received a BA inhumanities from Duquesne University. Constance holdsan MA and PhD from the University of Pittsburgh in classics. She studied at KnublyUniversity in Greece and also attended the Institute for Educational Managementat Harvard University. She serves on the National Council on the Humanities as apresidential nominee, and is a member of the Board of Trustees of the University ofSan Diego. In 2007, Constance received the National Association of Community CollegeTrustees’ CEO Award.Ted Chan, MDMedical Director, Emergency Department,UCSD-Hillcrest Medical Center & ThorntonHospital, La JollaTed joined The Foundation board after spearheading the2003 wildfire recovery efforts as chair of the San DiegoRegional Disaster Fund. He is currently medical directorof the Emergency Departments at both UCSD HillcrestMedical Center and the Thornton Hospital in La Jolla.Ted worked in Washington, DC in the Office of the Assistant Surgeon General, and inSacramento at the California State Senate. He chaired the Disaster Board during the2007 wildfires recovery effort, and serves as principal lead for the San Diego BeaconCommunity project for health information exchange in San Diego County. Ted is alsothe editor of the cardiology section of the Journal of Emergency Medicine, and hasauthored and edited three textbooks.Kay ChandlerPresident, Chandler Asset ManagementServing on the Investment Committee, Kay brings morethan 30 years of investment industry experience and alove of the San Diego community to The Foundation’sboard. She is president of Chandler Asset Management.Prior to that, Kay enjoyed a career in public service asinvestment officer for the County of San Diego and forthe City of San Diego. Her community interests includecultural development; she served as a board member for a nonprofit theatre group andcurrently serves as a board member for a small community foundation. Kay earned aBA from Oberlin College and is a CFA charterholder.Richard A. CollatoCommunity LeaderRichard is president emeritus and the former presidentand chief executive officer of the YMCA of San DiegoCounty. He was also a member of the San DiegoDowntown Rotary Club and past president of the SanPedro Rotary Club. Richard was named “Director of theYear 2002” by the Corporate Directors Forum and wasnamed the San Diego Business Journal’s 2007 CEO of theYear for Lifetime Achievement. Richard currently serves on the Strategic PlanningCommittee and is a director for WD-40 Company and Project Design ConsultantEngineering. He also serves on the YMCA Retirement Fund Board, Corporate DirectorsForum, Rancho Santa Fe Foundation, and Kyoto Symposium Organization boards.His past board service includes Sempra Energy, Surge Global Energy, PepperBallTechnologies, Y-Mutual Insurance, the Bank of San Diego, Springfield College, SDG&ECompany, Southern California Gas Company, Enova, MicroVision Optical, and the JennaDruck Foundation.
