Load Reduction and Self-generated Heat DuringApplication of High-frequency and High-voltageDue to the low self-heating characteristics of lowdissipationcapacitors, the allowable electric power ofthese capacitors is generally much higher than that of Bcharacteristic capacitors. However, if the self-heatingtemperature is 20°C under a high-frequency voltagewhose peak-to-peak value equals the capacitor's ratedvoltage, the capacitor's power consumption may exceedits allowable electric power. Therefore, when using the DEA/DEC (SL Char.) /DEH/DES series in a high-frequency and high-voltage circuitwith a frequency of 1kHz or higher, make sure that theVp-p values including the DC bias, do not exceed theapplied voltage value specified in Table 1. Also makesure that the self-heating temperature (the differencebetween the capacitor's surface temperature and thecapacitor's ambient temperature) at an ambienttemperature of 25°C does not exceed the value specifiedin Table 1.As shown in Fig. 2, the self-heating temperaturedepends on the ambient temperature. Therefore, if youare not able to set the ambient temperature toapproximately 25°C, please contact our salesrepresentatives or product engineers.
