Thanks also to thevolunteers helping load traps, refereeingand scoring. Richard Boenders, Mike Boakesand Don McCarthy for their help targetsetting and cleaning up at the end of theday. Stephanie Ginnelly for kindly comingout to help run the office and cashier theshoot with Diane and Nola for another nicelunch. Thank you to the competitors whotravelled varying distances in questionableweather to make the day an enjoyableevent. Our luck ran out on the weather withvery windy and changing light conditionsespecially for the last 100 target event witha heavy shower of rain and enough wind toturn umbrellas inside out. Three of the lastsquad shot 75 targets leaving Bryce Schouand Paul Anderson clear winners for theshoot in any conditions award for finishingthe event. What great sportsmanship onPaul Anderson’s part for being willing toshoot with Bryce to finish off the last 25in driving rain and wind and still shoot a24. Richard Boenders gave the buckle ascare that Ross Card had made for the firstfour shooters to run a 100 straight with animpressive 99 in wind conditions that weremoving the targets around a lot in thesecond round. The event was shot in three roundsof 100 targets with two rounds finishedby lunchtime. In honor of Ron Dent, everyone lined up on the trap in front ofthe clubhouse after lunch to fire a shot inhis memory. Ron had been instrumental inClay target shooting in New Zealand for anumber of years and was a keen supporterand participant in ATA shooting. He hadenjoyed a number of visits to the US toshoot ATA targets and live pigeons withsome of the more colorful characters overthere, some of whom are among the topATA competitors today.
