Over theyears, it has organized numerous research and education activities to encourage a wideradoption of green building design and technology. The Green Building Award launchedsince 2006 is another successful effort by the Council to highlight sustainability as animportant component of urban design.The Council has been a close partner of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department asearly as 2004 when it co-organised the first Best Landscape Award, providing professionaladvice and nominating members to serve on the adjudication panel. The Council’sGreen Building Award also encourages and gives recognition to projects with outstandingcontributions in sustainability.Indeed, sustainability has become an increasingly important element of a quality livingcity. Involvement of related professionals in the adoption of sustainable planning,design, construction and maintenance would be essential for the success of developing asustainable Hong Kong.I trust the Council’s continuous efforts to promote quality and sustainable builtenvironment would contribute to better quality of life in Hong Kong. On this specialoccasion of the Council’s 10th Anniversary, may I wish you and your members everysuccess in your future endeavours.I have great pleasure to extend my warmest congratulations to the Professional GreenBuilding Council (PGBC) on the occasion of its 10th Anniversary.As a non-profit making research and education institute, a coalition formed withmembers of different expertise, PGBC has been successfully promoted a better qualityand sustainable built environment through professional involvement over the years.PGBC has made tremendous contribution to the introduction of latest green buildingdesign and technology through organizing seminars and training courses, and publishingresearch results from collaborative researches on local and global developments of greenbuilding. PGBC has also offered professional advice to the Government on various aspectsof the local green building labeling scheme. I sincerely appreciate the dedication andcontributions made by PGBC to the betterment of our living.As water conservation is a key towards green building and sustainable use of our preciouswater resources, I would take this opportunity to appeal for PGBC’s continuous supportto the Water Supplies Department’s voluntary Water Efficiency Labelling Scheme andWater Quality Recognition Scheme for promoting more use of water saving devices andencouraging proper maintenance of water supply plumbing system.May I wish PGBC and its members every success in all future endeavours.
