In 1996, BEC launched the local assessment schemeBEAM (Building Environmental Assessment Method) with an aimto measure, improve and label the environmental sustainabilityof buildings. We see the great potential of managing our city’scarbon emission by managing the energy consumption and carbonemission of our buildings, which are consuming some 89% ofelectricity.I congratulate PGBC for steering through a successive ten years toshare information and knowledge in green buildings to Hong Kongprofessional sector and community. There will certainly be moreand more decades to come, and more works to do, as awarenessin this area raises and quest for knowledge, technology andinformation in green building rises.
