Hence, they present both a challenge andan opportunity for reduction of carbon emissions. <strong>The</strong>re is urgency to introducenew technologies and initiatives to reduce the carbon footprints of buildings. Inthis regard, the Government will continue to encourage the adoption of greenmeasures through the active use of policy instruments, and will lead by exampleto incorporate green features in public works projects.I am pleased to know that the Government is not alone in this highly worthwhilemission. Over the last decade, the <strong>Professional</strong> <strong>Green</strong> <strong>Building</strong> <strong>Council</strong> hasproven to be a steadfast partner in championing the green building movementin the construction industry by uniting the professions of architects, engineers,landscape architects, surveyors and planners for this noble cause. <strong>The</strong> <strong>Council</strong>’sstaunch support has been most invaluable.1My gratitude goes to the <strong>Council</strong> for all its excellent work in making Hong Konga better place to live.
