The speakers were Ms Kay Sock Phoh & Ms Khoo Su Ching from Job Street. Engineering Career Camp 2011 IEM Penang Branch organized a 1-day Engineering Career Camp at IEM Penang Secretariat for Form 6 students from SMJK Chung Hwa Confucian, SMK Sungai Ara, SMJK Heng Ee, SMK (L) Methodist, SMK Raja Tun Uda, SMJK Chung Ling, SMJK Perempuan China Pulau Pinang & SMK Free School. The career talk was presented by Ir. Paul Phor Chi Wei. It was followed by visits to M.E.I Project Engineers Sdn Bhd, Jabatan Kerja Raya Negeri Pulau Pinang and Knowles Electronics (M) Sdn Bhd. A total of 8 counselors and 24 students took part. Technical Talk on Arbitration Ir. Dr. Wong Fook Keong was the speaker for the above talk on “Arbitration” which was held at IEM Penang Secretariat. It was attended by 63 participants. Professional Interview Workshop 42 participants attended this informative Professional Interview Workshop which was held at IEM Penang Secretariat. The Expert Panel Speakers include Ir. Mohd Aman Hj Idris, Ir. Dr Goh Teik Cheong, Ir. Ooi Boon Bow and Ir. Thong Cheong Tai. Professional Interviewer Workshop 17 participants attended this workshop and the speaker was Ir. Mohd Aman Hj Idris. Book Launching for Book “Northern Builders” 100 participants attended book launching at Penang Club. YB Dato’ Lee Kah Choon was guest of Honour who launched the book and IEM National President Ir. Prof. Dato Dr Chuah Hean Teik was present to share the memorable and meaningful occasion. 2011 Distinguished Engineer Legacy Lecture Our fellow eminent Penang engineer, Dato’ Ir. Tan Chong Meng presented his life-long experience on “Events and Memorable Incidents In An Engineer’s Life” during his Legacy Lecture held at the Penang Club in conjunction with the Engineering Week. Aim of this prestigious IEM-Penang Distinguished Engineer Legacy Lecture Series is to impart the invaluable and extensive engineering knowledge and skills obtained by senior prominent and very experienced engineers, in any specialised fields of engineering, to practising and aspiring engineers. Seminar on Forensic Engineering Construction Scene Investigation 4 expert speakers shared their knowledge on various topics during this informative geotechnical seminar to 27 participants. The panel speakers were Ir. Ke Geok Chuan, Mt. Eazzarhan Abdullah, Ir. Qua Hock Chye & Mr. Sugito Wibawa. Course on Fire Control Concepts & Design of Active Wet Systems A 2 day course was held at IEM Penang Secretariat and attended by 15 participants. The speaker was Ir. Gary Lim. Technical Talk on Emergency Response Plan (ERP) – What A Facility Could Do In The First Few Minutes 21 participants attended the above talk at IEM Penang Secretariat. The speaker was Ir. Loo Chee Kin. Seminar on Integrated Project Management Operation In The Construction & Engineering Sector 41 participants attended the above seminar which was jointly organized with Enterprise Business Solutions Sdn Bhd. Mr. Dareen Vellai & Mr. Franklin Paul were the speakers. 12

The speaker was Cdr (Rtd) Ir. Raymond Swa. Technical Talk on Plastics in Construction – Is It A Fire hazard, And Can It Be Protected? 22 participants attended the talk at IEM Penang Secretariat. The speaker was Ir. Loo Chee Kin. Seminar on Rehabilitation of Concrete Structure –A Systematic Approach BASF Malaysia Sdn Bhd co-organised the above seminar with IEM Penang Branch for 30 participants. Speakers were Ir. Yap Beng Hong & En. Rosli. Technical Dialogue with SPAN & IWK Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Air Negara (SPAN) & Indah Water Konsortium Sdn Bhd jointly with IEM Penang organized a short briefing on the above which will assist consultant engineers submitting sewerage development proposals to the authority for approval. A total of 43 members attended the dialogue held at IEM Penang Secretariat. Technical Dialogue with Bomba IEM Penang Secretariat held a technical dialogue with government body, Bomba, for the benefit of its members to exchange and update on matters relating to the department. Total 23 members attended. Technical Talk on Export of Professional Services: An X-Rated Strategy for Growth Mr. Yeoh Seng Hooi & Mr. Suresh Kumar presented the talk to 15 participants which was held at IEM Penang Secretariat. Course on Design Concepts of Plumbing & Soil Waste Vent Systems 17 participants attended this 2 day course which was presented by speaker, Ir. Gary Lim at IEM Penang Secretariat. Project Management Certificate Course PMP Boot Camp: The Success Path to be a Certified Project Management Professional PMO Asia Sdn Bhd jointly organized the above course at IEM Penang Secretariat. It was attended by 6 participants. The speaker was Ir. Dr. Mui Kai Yin. Seminar on Architecture for High-Efficiency, High-Density Data Centres The above seminar was a joint effort by APC Schneider Electric and IEM Penang Secretariat. A total of 30 participants attended the seminar at G Hotel. Workshop on Malaysia National Annex to Eurocode 7 Geotechnical Design – Part 1: General Rules 29 participants attended the above workshop which was held at IEM Penang Secretariat. The speakers were Prof. Brian Simpson & Ir. Tan Yang Kheng. Technical Visit to 2 nd Penang Bridge A total of 40 members visited the 2 nd Penang Bridge. Course on Payments and Variations in Engineering and Construction Contracts The course was jointly organized by IEM Training Centre Sdn Bhd and IEM Penang ecretariat at Bayview Hotel. A total of 63 participants attended. The speaker was Ir. Harbans Singh.
