CAFEO 29 & YAFEO IN BRUNEI DARUSSALAM
The 29 th CAFEO (Conference on ASEAN Federal of Engineering Organizations) was hosted by PUJA (Pertubuhan Ukur
Jurutera & Arkitek) held from 27 th November to 30 th December 2011 at Rizqun International Hotel, Brunei Darussalam.
The engineers from ASEAN and beyond were gathered in Brunei for CAFEO 29 to address the theme of “Sustainable
Urbanization: Engineering Challenges & Opportunities”.
In conjunction with this conference, IEM Penang Branch has sent one delegate to attend the conference of Young
Engineers of AFEO (YAFEO). Engr Choong Chin Hooi represented IEM Penang Branch for the involvement in the
YAFEO meeting. Ir. Lim Kok Khong and Ir. Dr. Goh Teik Cheong from Penang Branch also attended this CAFEO 2011
where Ir. Lim Kok Khong was conferred a title of Honorary Fellow AFEO. This meeting was also attended by delegates
from the IEM main branch as well as delegates from ASEAN countries.
CAFEO 29 in Brunei Darussalam was well organized by PUJA. It gave all the ASEAN delegates an unforgettable
memory for the few days while in Brunei. This conference has provided an ideal platform for engineers teaming up to
learn and exchange the finer engineering points towards a better quality of life.
The 30 th CAFEO in year 2012 will be held in Cambodia. This would be another great network opportunity for engineers
working together for a better future.
