A 10 of 14<strong>GSM</strong>-R Industry Group4 meetings attendedThe <strong>GSM</strong>-R Industry Group (IG) works with two permanent groups, a technical IG (TIG) and a marketinggroup.With the participation of the <strong>GSM</strong>-R project manager and the chairman of OG we are in a position toexplain to TIG functional and technical requirements and to clarify the railways’ needs.The meetings have been partly fruitful, even if the outcome is not always as quick as expected. Owing tothe rising number of implementations the backlog of work for the IG is increasing. A new way of resolvingthis issue has been developed but the backlog remains. OG has tried to prioritise the necessary work tofacilitate progress, to ensure the critical items are addressed first.INTEGRERNSTThe work on INTEGRERNST is ongoing between Sweden and Germany. Investigations on the Swedishside concerning the legal framework have led to the result that the national authority in Sweden does notsee any impact. A similar request to the German national authority showed the same result.The situation between Banverket & DB-Telematik remains unchanged because the upgrading of theformer’s network was not successful.Positive indications were raised in December <strong>2006</strong>, as a result of which final tests are to be carried out bythe end of February 2007. Issue of a final report is expected at this point.In the meantime some tests were carried out with Norway showing that integration of INTEGRERNST isboth possible and successful.With these activities the project will be closed. Further activities in this field will have to be carried out atthe railways’ own expense.GPRS and ASCI for ETCSFollowing a first check of available GPRS documentation related to ETCS in September 2004, a workinggroup was set up consisting of members from FG, OG and the <strong>GSM</strong>-R Industry group, with Detica tosupport the work. After the first two meetings it was decided to include also representatives from the EEIG
