This is a direct result of the likelihoodthat, due to inflation, design requirements, NEPA, etc., the majority of projectsrealistically cannot be completed for under $50,000. ($40,000 TA funds +$10,000 Sponsor match = $50,000 total project cost). There is no maximumamount of funding that can be requested.ApplicationProcess Once a year on-line at dohgrants.wv.gov. Financial AssistanceS t a t e w i d eWV Department of Transportation continued ...Program: Transportation Alternatives (TA) ProgramDescriptionOn July 06, 2012 President Obama signed into Law P.L. 112-141, Moving Aheadfor Progress in the 21st Century Act (MAP-21), thus replacing P.L. 109-159,the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacyfor Users (SAFETEA-LU). Programs formerly and individually funded underSAFETEA-LU, including the Transportation Enhancement Program (TEP), theSafe Routes to School (SRTS) Program and the Recreational Trails Program (RTP),are now all contained within the Transportation Alternatives (TA) Program. TheWVDOH’s TA Program provides funding to local and regional governmentalentities to undertake projects to support alternative transportation, communityinfrastructure improvement activities, historic preservation, roadway amenitiesand support conventional transportation projects in the areas of archaeologyand environmental mitigation.D–88 B U S I N E S S R E S O U R C E D I R E C T O R Y
