The Council was formed in 2002 when the I-79 Strategic PlanningGroup, formed in 1992, merged with the Mountaineer Development Councila regional economic development organization. The I-79 DevelopmentCouncil is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit corporation of members from businessesincluding banking, higher education, hospitals, legal, high technology,economic development authorities, chambers of commerce, media, and manyother business groups.
