inaugural lecture on violence and biblical spirituality.Two successful congresses on Biblical Spiritualitywere held – one in Nijmegen in The Netherlandsand one in Bloemfontein. A new Master‘s course onBiblical Spirituality was also developed. The De partmentpresented an international congress on therhetorical analysis of the Letter to the Galatians.This will be followed by further international congresseson Pauletic literature.Acta Theologica, the journal of the Faculty of Theology at theUFS, is the first theological magazine in South Africa to beaccepted for indexing in the Arts and Humanities CitationIndex of the American Institute for Scientific Information.Acta Theologica, the accredited academicjournal of the Faculty, published a number ofsupplements, over and above the normal issues.These include issues on the medical sciences in theantique world (receiving the Stals prize), Christianspirituality, and the rhetorical analysis of Galatians.In 2007, Acta Theologica became the first SouthAfrica theological journal to be accepted forindexing in the Arts and Humanities Citation Indexof the American Institute for Scientific Information(ISI). Due to the ISI’s high standards, only a smallnumber of South African academic journals havesucceeded in being added to the ISI list. It was thefirst theological magazine in South Africa to behonoured in this way.110
