This workshop emanates fromthe cooperation agreement between the Fa culty ofEconomic and Management Scienc es and the Institutfür Weltwirtschaft und Internationales Managementat the Uni versity of Bremen in Germany. The Schoolof Man age ment also produced three ac credited publications during 2006 and 2007.The Centre for Accounting and the Depart mentof Industrial Psychology produced a total of tenarticles. The Centre for Accounting presented 13national and two international papers and the staffof the Department of In dustrial Psychology presentedten inter national papers. Prof Hentie van Wyk fromthe Centre of Accounting was the main speaker atthe 7th National Management Convention of theMauritian Management Association and he was oneof the invited main speakers during the InternationalFinancial Accounting and Tax Practice Conference atthe I-Shou University in Taiwan.The Department of Business Managementreached new heights with five nationally and teninternationally selected papers by Profs Rudolphvan Buuren, Van Aardt Smit and Kobus Lazenby, aswell as Mss Liezel Kotze, Ekeate Samson-Akpan, DrsJohan van Zyl and Orpha Lotz in France, Greece,Finland, Mauritius, Ghana and Namibia. Prof Smitand Ms Kotze jointly received three prizes for bestpapers presented. Ms Samson-Akpan also receiveda prize for the best applied paper at the 7th InternationalConference of the International AfricanAssociation for Business and Development. Globalcompetitiveness of enterprises, personal financialliteracy, credit management and productivity, andchallenges for micro enterprises were some researchtopics covered.The Department of Public Management attendedthe annual conferences of the Inter nationalAssociation of Schools and Institutes of Administrationin Warsaw, Poland (2006) and Abu Dhabi,United Arab Emirates (2007) and presented 11papers. During the Abu Dhabi conference, ProfHendri Kroukamp was honoured with an awardfor his scientific contribution to the success of theconference. Added to this, staff members of theDepartment presented seven papers at nationalconferences and one in Namibia. The Departmenthas also published 13 papers in accredited journalsover the past two years. They also started a newera in multidisciplinary research when theyproduced three accredited articles in collaborationwith the Departments of Accounting, Economicsand Industrial Psychology.88
