- DIVER EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS — The dive operati<strong>on</strong>ensures divers’ preparedness by c<strong>on</strong>ducting:• Pre-dive activities that include dive briefings to review resp<strong>on</strong>siblediver activities and to remind divers of the safety stop; and• Post-dive activities that include the DAN Diver Identificati<strong>on</strong> System(DIDS) and dive debriefing.All DAN PDS new applicati<strong>on</strong>s and renewals are required to use the DIDSDAN Tag for post-dive roll call of divers. This system may be used inadditi<strong>on</strong> to the current required post dive activity, or at minimum it mustbe the system that is used. To facilitate implementati<strong>on</strong> of the DIDS system,DAN will provide — at no cost to the operator — <strong>on</strong>e board for eachdive boat in the operati<strong>on</strong>.- EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT PREPAREDNESS — A dive boat reflectsa safety c<strong>on</strong>sciousness by having the following <strong>on</strong> board:• First Aid Kit (appropriate for the locati<strong>on</strong>).• Emergency Oxygen Unit capable of providing:- high c<strong>on</strong>centrati<strong>on</strong>s of oxygen (100 percent is ideal)- oxygen for breathing and n<strong>on</strong>-breathing injured divers- enough oxygen for simultaneous use by many divers.- EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE PLAN — All operati<strong>on</strong>s must have afuncti<strong>on</strong>al emergency plan that links to local emergency medical services(ambulance services, rescue squads, etc.). A complete emergencyassistance plan should be prominently displayed and should include:• Initial c<strong>on</strong>tact informati<strong>on</strong>• Emergency medical assistance c<strong>on</strong>tacts• Emergency first aid procedures• <strong>Diving</strong> medical c<strong>on</strong>sultati<strong>on</strong> informati<strong>on</strong>• Recompressi<strong>on</strong> chamber informati<strong>on</strong>With the DANStudent MembershipProgram you provideyour students withessential diveinsurance that allopen-water studentsshould haveFor more details about the Partners in Dive Safety program, call DANIndustry Membership at 1-877-532-6776 or +1-919-684-2948 ext. 619.DAN Student Membership ProgramInstructors now have two choices when enrolling their open-water studentsin the DAN Student Membership Program. New rosters are available<strong>on</strong> the DAN website at www.<strong>Divers</strong><strong>Alert</strong>Network.org — downloadthe new roster and print it whenever you need it, or use the new <strong>on</strong>lineroster and email the student informati<strong>on</strong> directly to DAN. Either way, youprovide your students with essential dive insurance that all open-waterstudents should have.When you enroll your students, be sure to give your students theirInsurance Record and DAN membership applicati<strong>on</strong>. Include your DANnumber <strong>on</strong> the roster so you can earn valuable DAN points.
