Afterelections last year, it was clearthat the Psi brothers wanted topush harder for service. We haveaccomplished this in a multitudeof ways.By staying in contact with oneof our alumni, we were able tohelp out with Padres Contra ElCáncer, an amazing organizationcommitted to improving thequality of life for Latino childrenwith cancer, which was a perfectway of getting Psi involved in thegreater Los Angeles area.We were also able to help out themarching band in a big way duringmarching season by constructingan elaborate prop, a Trojan horse, for our famous Downfall of Troyshow designed to mock our rivalschool U$¢, and by helping ourequipment crew transport anderect the horse at the Rose Bowl. This quarter, we are putting ourlargest effort in starting a hugeproject that our band director hasbeen passionate about, called thehistorical project, which entailsscanning and archiving relics fromthe UCLA band’s rich history sothat future bandsman have a senseof pride when seeing how storiedtheir band is.While service has been the focalpoint on our chapter, we havealso made progress in betteringour chapter in many other ways.Earlier in the year, we sat down, often late into the night, toform a dramatic overhaul of ourcurrent alcohol policy to betterreflect our goals as a chapter, ourexpectations as a bandsman atUCLA, and our duties as a brother. It was tedious at times, but was atestament to how well our largechapter is able to communicateand disagree with each other, and, when necessary, come togetheron a decision that will affect ourchapter for years to come. Finally, one of the projects thatI personally found the mostrewarding was Active Night.Through a cohesion of ideas, ourSocial Coordinator and Sergeantat arms came together to createan amazing event to reach for thecore of what our degrees meanto each of us on a personal level, and simply what we’ve gainedas a brother. By the end of thenight, I felt a deep attachment andrespect to all those present, andunderstand why I’m proud to be abrother.Overall, the Psi Chapter hashad an amazing year with manyunique and diverse projects thattruly represent all of the purposesthat we hold as important. Ourbrothers have grown closer andstronger, and our desire to servefor the greater good of the band isbecoming insatiable.University of California, LATBS - Epsilon KappaHello From Westwood!Spring 2008 EditionSpring Quarter has just begun andalready EK is busy busy!
