For those of you who may not know me, my name is Candace “CLEO” Roberts andI’m a member of the Beta Omicron chapter at Arizona State University (Go ‘Devils!). I was born inOxnard, California, and there I stayed until I moved to Tempe to attend ASU. I am currently pursuinga BIS major in communications and business, along with a double minor in music and special eventmanagement. I play tenor saxophone in the Arizona State University Sun Devil Marching Band and Ihave been a member of Kappa Kappa Psi since the fall of 2006.But enough about me, let’s talk about the WESTERN DISTRICT! First of all, I’d like to thankIota Kappa for hosting a great District Convention this year! Even though I was stressed-out half ofthe time with running for Office, the Western District continued to show why the Best are in the West.My two main goals for the year are to facilitate communication between chapters in the District, aswell as bring some new fundraising projects to the District. I think that a lot of the time, we get socaught up with what’s happening in our own Chapter that we forget that there are 12 other chaptersin the District that are probably going through or have experienced the same thing. Through monthlydiscussiontopics, I hope to narrow the gap between chapters and create an environment whereSecretaries and Treasurers (along with other Chapter Officers and members!) feel comfortable askingfor advice, getting suggestions, or just checking in with other chapters in the District.Throughout the summer, I’ll also be diving into the world of fundraising and hope to have apreliminary list of fundraisers to offer to chapters for the first ever Western District Kappa Kappa PsiMonth of Fundraising as well as fundraisers that can be incorporated into State Days as well as forgeneral use by the chapters. While it’s up you to decide what type of fundraisers you want to do, weall need a starting point sometimes and I want to help make the process as painless as possible.As much as I want to serve as a resource for the Secretaries and Treasurers of the WesternDistrict, I, along with the rest of the District Council, are here for ALL of YOU!
