Chapter 3 Application Development InformationSoftware and ManualsThe following software and manuals are provided for application development.DriversSoftwareEPSON Advanced Printer Driver (APD):In addition to ordinary Windows driver functions, thisdriver has controls specific to POS, such as controls forpaper cut, a cash drawer, or customer display. TheStatus API (Epson original DLL) that monitors printerstatus and sends ESC/POS commands is alsoattached to this driver.OPOS ADK:This OCX driver can control POS peripherals using OLEtechnology* 1 . Because controlling POS peripheralswith original commands is not required on theapplication side, efficient system development ispossible.OPOS ADK for .NET:OPOS ADK for .NET allows you to developapplications that are compatible with Microsoft POSfor .NET.When developing applications, use a separatedevelopment environment such as Microsoft VisualStudio .NET.JavaPOS ADK (Windows):JavaPOS ADK (Linux):JavaPOS is the standard specification which definesan architecture and device interface (API) to accessvarious POS devices from a Java based system. UsingJavaPOS standard API allows control with Java-basedapplications of functions inherent to each device. Aflexible design with Java language and JavaPOSenables many different types of computer systems,such as stand alone or network configuration, to usea same application.
