Chapter 5 Replacement of the <strong>TM</strong>-T88IVReplacement of the <strong>TM</strong>-T88IVThe <strong>TM</strong>-<strong>T88V</strong> is designed so that it can smoothly replace the <strong>TM</strong>-T88IV. This chapter describesprecautions for the replacement.CompatibilityPrintingThe printing and character specifications are the same as those of the <strong>TM</strong>-T88IV. Without specialconfigurations, the <strong>TM</strong>-<strong>T88V</strong> prints the same results as the <strong>TM</strong>-T88IV prints.Print DensityThe print density of the <strong>TM</strong>-<strong>T88V</strong> can be set with DIP switches (2-3/2-4) as can the <strong>TM</strong>-T88IV.Set the density the same as for the <strong>TM</strong>-T88IV to print in the same print density.The print density can be set also with a customized value. The initial setting of thecustomized value is “Depends on the DIP switch settings.” If the customized value ischanged, the value set with the customized value is enabled. (See "Setting the MemorySwitches (Customized Value)" on page 48.)Two-Color PrintingYou cannot use the paper for two-color printing (P320RB/P320BB) with the <strong>TM</strong>-<strong>T88V</strong>, which youcan use with the <strong>TM</strong>-T88IV.Number of Head Energizing Parts5For the <strong>TM</strong>-<strong>T88V</strong>, the initial setting of the number of head energizing parts is “One-partenergizing.” You can change the setting with the customized value (See "Setting the MemorySwitches (Customized Value)" on page 48.); however it does not usually need to be changed.Number of head energizing part<strong>TM</strong>-<strong>T88V</strong> One-part energizing Two-part energizing Four-part energizing<strong>TM</strong>-T88IV One-part energizing Two-part energizing Four-part energizing Auto energizing95
