3Australia<strong>Mainfreight</strong> Distribution – Rodd MorganWe are pleased to be able to report a final full yearprofit result this year that was 15% stronger thanlast year. We have also seen our revenue grow bymore than 17%.This result is due to the great efforts of our tirelessteams around Australia who have held strongduring what was a particularly tough summerperiod.Whilst we still have much work to do and areas toimprove, we would like to thank all of our team foryour persistence and dedication which is the onlyreason for our improved result.Below are some of the many highlights that ourbusiness enjoyed over the last financial year:-Sydney Metro has had significant sales growthand now is home to three team members and 16drivers. <strong>The</strong> rapid growth has been a struggle attimes, but now we have survived a frantic summer,we are in a much stronger position to carry thisgrowth on and see some of the service benefitsthat extra vehicles on the road can bring.We have also made the move into the newcombined Sydney site which means the wholeteam can work in the same office at once asopposed to squeezing one at a time into our oldatco hut!Melbourne Metro has also experienced rapidfreight sales growth thanks mainly to the arrivalof two blue chip supply chain customers. Thishas changed our business from mainly doingbulk pallet deliveries to also now specialisingin concentrated carton deliveries to service therestaurant industry within Melbourne.Importantly, we would also like to welcomeback our key team member, Aladin, from hisadventurous journey to New Zealand. Aladin alsorecently completed the famed Outward Boundcourse and reports that it was very definitely a lifechanging and memorable experience.<strong>The</strong> Brisbane Metro owner drivers have againdone us proud this year recording the bestdelivery performance in the country for one ofour major customers. If it wasn’t for the ownerdrivers’ efficiency and their excellent relationshipwith our customer’s frontline people, we would nothave serviced our customers during the difficultpre-Christmas period so well.We have had another year of substantial growthin terms of fleet size and sales at Brisbane Metro.<strong>The</strong> profit margins were not as good as previousyears but with an injection of two permanent teammembers into the office and introducing a fleet ofvans to service our premium accounts, an end ofyear profit result not much behind our previousyear was still a good effort by the team.<strong>The</strong> coming year will see Brisbane Metro focuson bringing new customers to the group to ensurethat we continue to widen our service capability.In Townsville, we moved into a new depot lastyear to help deal with our strong growth. Moreexciting than this is the wide variety of non-rentpaying snakes (Taipans and Pythons) that seemto also like the new shed!
