<strong>Academic</strong> <strong>Regulations</strong> <strong>2010</strong>/<strong>11</strong>Part 2 – General <strong>Regulations</strong>xii. Recommendation to the Principal that the student be suspended from the programmefor a period of up to one academic year with all modules taken during the academicyear in which the offence occurred recorded with a module result of 0X.xiii. Recommendation to the Principal that the student be expelled from QMUL with allmodules taken during the academic year in which the offence occurred recorded witha module result of 0X.2.<strong>11</strong>8. Where the penalty involves failure in the module, but the student is not prohibitedfrom resitting or retaking the module, any such further attempt will be in thesubsequent academic year.2.<strong>11</strong>9. Where the penalty involves a re-working or resubmission of an item of assessmentthen this will take place during the current academic year. If the student does notresubmit then a mark of 0 will be given for the item of assessment.2.120. The <strong>Academic</strong> Secretary will present an annual report to Senate on all assessmentoffences, however resolved.2.121. There is no statute of limitation on applying the Assessment Offences <strong>Regulations</strong>.The Assessment Offences <strong>Regulations</strong> will be applied retrospectively if a graduate ofQMUL is alleged to have committed an assessment offence whilst a student ofQMUL.College Appeal <strong>Regulations</strong> (CAR)2.122. The College Appeal <strong>Regulations</strong> (CAR) provide a single appeal process for studentswho wish to appeal against an outcome arising from the following procedures:i. Student Disciplinary Procedure, as detailed in the Code of Student Discipline.ii. Student Disciplinary <strong>and</strong> Fitness to Practise Procedure, as detailed in the Code ofStudent Discipline.iii. Assessment Offences regulations.iv. Student Complaints Policy.v. Disciplinary actions taken under the Library <strong>Regulations</strong>.vi. Disciplinary actions taken under the Residences <strong>Regulations</strong>.vii. Decisions to terminate the registration of a student.viii. Decisions to terminate the registration of a student on a research studies programme.ix. <strong>Regulations</strong> <strong>and</strong> procedures for upgrade from MPhil to PhD.x. Decisions of Examination Boards (<strong>Academic</strong> Appeals).xi. Decisions relating to student bursaries, scholarships <strong>and</strong> grants administered by theCollege.2.123. In all cases, the outcome resulting from the procedure is final <strong>and</strong> is not varied untilthe appeal process is completed <strong>and</strong>, if successful, results in an alternativedecision. 1010 For example; if a student has been excluded from the College due to academic failure, the studentis not reinstated until the appeal process is complete <strong>and</strong> the outcome of the appeal results in anamendment of the original decision. Similarly, students who have been issued with a notice to quittheir room in the Halls of Residence must leave College accommodation on the prescribed date, anPage 35 of <strong>11</strong>0
