<strong>Academic</strong> <strong>Regulations</strong> <strong>2010</strong>/<strong>11</strong>Part 1– Framework <strong>and</strong> Governance<strong>Academic</strong> <strong>Regulations</strong>Part 1 – Framework <strong>and</strong> GovernanceIntroduction1.1. The <strong>Academic</strong> <strong>Regulations</strong> incorporates both General <strong>Regulations</strong> that apply tostudents of QMUL <strong>and</strong> the regulations for Assessment, Progression <strong>and</strong> Award. The<strong>Academic</strong> <strong>Regulations</strong> regulate the principal institutional mechanisms for thearticulation <strong>and</strong> management of QMUL’s academic st<strong>and</strong>ards for taught awards.Applicability1.2. These regulations take effect from 1 September <strong>2010</strong> <strong>and</strong> supersede all previousregulations <strong>and</strong> policies for the areas detailed herein, except where it is specificallystated that the regulations in force at the time of a student’s enrolment are in force.Any changes of substance that have been introduced through the <strong>2010</strong>/<strong>11</strong> <strong>Academic</strong><strong>Regulations</strong> beyond a restructuring of the format were agreed by <strong>Academic</strong> Board 1 atthe end of 2009/10.Scope1.3. The <strong>Academic</strong> <strong>Regulations</strong> apply to all undergraduate <strong>and</strong> postgraduate programmesleading to an award of QMUL or University or award of academic credit <strong>and</strong> to thestudents registered on those programmes1.4. The <strong>Academic</strong> <strong>Regulations</strong> comprise seven parts. Each part states, wherenecessary, to which programmes <strong>and</strong> students they refer.1.5. Where separate arrangements apply to research studies; these are detailed in Part 6;the <strong>Academic</strong> <strong>Regulations</strong> for Research Studies.1.6. In some cases, separate arrangements may apply to collaborative provision; sucharrangements are set out in the relevant memor<strong>and</strong>um of agreement <strong>and</strong> supportingdocumentation for the collaborative provision as well as in Part 7.1.7. All references to the ‘<strong>Academic</strong> <strong>Regulations</strong>’ include programme regulations, moduleregulations <strong>and</strong> special regulations.1.8. QMUL reserves the right to amend the <strong>Academic</strong> <strong>Regulations</strong>, as it considersappropriate.1.9.
