<strong>Academic</strong> <strong>Regulations</strong> <strong>2010</strong>/<strong>11</strong>Part 3 – <strong>Regulations</strong> for the conduct of assessment<strong>Academic</strong> <strong>Regulations</strong>Part 3 – <strong>Regulations</strong> for the Conduct of Assessment,excluding Research DegreesScope3.1. These regulations apply to all taught modules <strong>and</strong> programmes of study of QMUL<strong>and</strong> to those students enrolled <strong>and</strong> registered on them. These regulations also applyto students registered as associated students of QMUL. Ordinance C1 specifiesthose individuals considered students of QMUL.Applicability3.2. These regulations take effect from 1 September 2009 <strong>and</strong> supersede all previousregulations <strong>and</strong> policies for the areas detailed herein, except where it is specificallystated that the regulations in force at the time of a student’s enrolment are in force.General3.3. The structure, learning aims <strong>and</strong> outcomes, the type <strong>and</strong> format of assessment <strong>and</strong>re-assessment (including relevant weightings) for a module is set out in the approvedmodule specification <strong>and</strong> regulations that are approved by Senate or its delegatedauthority.3.4. Students are informed of the arrangements for teaching <strong>and</strong> learning, the modulesyllabus, <strong>and</strong> the assessment <strong>and</strong> re-assessment requirements at the start of theacademic year <strong>and</strong> in accordance with the approved module specification <strong>and</strong>regulations.3.5. Normally, for modules that are no longer taught, the assessment is only offered forone year after the discontinuation date. After that point, Subject Examination Boardsmay impose an alternative form of assessment.3.6. All material submitted for assessment, including assessment that does not counttowards the module mark, shall be the student’s own work (except where group workspecifically forms part of the assignment). Quotations from the published orunpublished work of other persons must always be attributed, both at the appropriatepoint in the text, <strong>and</strong> in the bibliography at the end.3.7. If an examiner or invigilator suspects a student of committing an assessment offence,the allegation will be investigated in accordance with the <strong>Regulations</strong> for AssessmentOffences, contained in Part 2 of the <strong>Academic</strong> <strong>Regulations</strong>.Invigilated ExaminationsSetting of Examination Papers3.8. Senate, or its delegated authority, approves the minimum prescribed st<strong>and</strong>ards forthe production <strong>and</strong> security of examination papers <strong>and</strong> provides operational detail insupport of this regulation. Examination question papers, including front pages, areproduced to meet the prescribed minimum st<strong>and</strong>ard agreed by Senate or itsdelegated authority.Page 41 of <strong>11</strong>0
