Getting Started 2This chapter helps you start using the <strong>Intel</strong>® M<strong>at</strong>h Kernel Library (<strong>Intel</strong>® MKL) for theLinux* OS by giving basic inform<strong>at</strong>ion you need to know <strong>and</strong> describing the necessarysteps you need to perform after the install<strong>at</strong>ion of the product.Checking Your Install<strong>at</strong>ionOnce you complete the install<strong>at</strong>ion of <strong>Intel</strong> MKL, it is helpful to perform a basic verific<strong>at</strong>iontask th<strong>at</strong> confirms proper install<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>and</strong> configur<strong>at</strong>ion of the library.1. Check th<strong>at</strong> the directory you chose for the install<strong>at</strong>ion has been cre<strong>at</strong>ed. The defaultinstall<strong>at</strong>ion directory is /opt/intel/mkl/10.0.xxx, where xxx is the packagenumber, for example, /opt/intel/mkl/10.0.0392. Upd<strong>at</strong>e build scripts so th<strong>at</strong> they point to the desired version of <strong>Intel</strong> MKL if you chooseto keep multiple versions installed on your computer. Note th<strong>at</strong> you can have severalversions of <strong>Intel</strong> MKL installed on your computer, but when installing, you are requiredto remove Beta versions of this software.3. Check th<strong>at</strong> the following six files are placed in the tools/environment directory:mklvars32.shmklvarsem64t.shmklvars64.shmklvars32.cshmklvarsem64t.cshmklvars64.cshYou can use these files to set environmental variables, such as INCLUDE,LD_LIBRARY_PATH, <strong>and</strong> MANPATH, in the current user shell.2-1
