Many of the lights in thisapproach line are mounted on high masts located on a mountainslope making it difficult to inspect and to service. By using the ASPsingle lamp monitoring the airport now can have an alarm foreach individual lamp that breaks. The exact position of a brokenlamp is also graphically presented on a SafeControl PC monitorinstalled in the maintenance workshop as well as in thesubstation. This enables the maintenance people to perform amore efficient service by saving time when locating a brokenlamp. As the airport is located inland and north of the ArcticCircle they have winters with plenty of snow and very lowtemperatures. By pin pointing the lamp faults they can minimizethe time spent for changing broken lamps which is highlyappreciated by the maintenance personnel.
