Norway - Moss Airport RyggeEquipment: ASP systemQuantity: 458 SafeLED IQ and LMS unitsDuration: 2010Scope:The airport is located south of the Norwegian capital Oslo.Being a civil-military airport with increasing civil aviation and ahub for low cost carriers, an upgrade was made in 2010 to CAT II.As part of this upgrade an ASP system using SafeLED IQ wasinstalled for all taxiways, stop bars, lead-on/-off and the apronarea. Also some LMS units were installed for elevated stop barlights and RGL.There are nearly 450 SafeLED lights with IQ functionalitymeaning that each light has an integrated communication unit.The use of ASP for these lights forms 108 individually controllablelight segments, and there are nearly 1000 light addresseshandled in the system. Only 8 series circuits are required for thesupply of all these lights and functions.This system is using a fixed 2 A current supply for the SafeLED IQlights and the intensity control is handled by using the ASPcommunication. By using this combination of low current supplyand ASP communication the project made considerable costsavings in installation, cabling, CCRs, substation equipment, etc.At the same time they will also save energy by using LED lightsand by running the system with a low current that will reducedistribution losses in cables and transformers.
