MIRROR RACINGDISAPPEARING DOTTo do this experiment you willrequire a large sheet of paper, amirror, pencil and a sketch pen.To represent the road, draw abig ‘S’ shaped curve on yoursheet of paper. Place this on atable, or any other flat surface, infront of a mirror.Point your pencil at the start ofthe road and look at its reflectionin the mirror. With your eye onthe reflection only, see if you cantrace a line around the trackwithout moving the pencil overthe edge. To make it moreinteresting, you can draw a trackwith extra twists and turns in itand surround it with hazards too, such as buildings, bridges andtunnels.1. You will need a piece of card sheet, asketch pen and a ruler. Draw an X on theright side of the card. 2. Draw a dot 10-cm to the left of the X.3. Hold the paper at arm’s length in frontof you and look hard at the X; you willnow be able to see the dot out of thecorner of your eye.4. Keep concentrating on the X and slowly bringthe paper closer to your eyes. Suddenly the dotwill disappear completely from view.
