1. Collect two torch batteries and apencil cell. An old cycle tube, oldrubber slipper, wooden reeds from abroom (phool jhadu), cheap qualityplastic show buttons, needles, oldball pen refills, rubber adhesive,simple home tools is all you will needto make this lovely coal engine.BATTERY ENGINE2. Cut two pieces from an old cycle tube andslide them on the batteries. One battery becomesthe boiler of the coal engine and the pencil cellbecomes the smokestack or the chimney.3. Cut a 2.5-cm square from an old hawai slipper.Make a hole in this piece so as to fit the pencilcell. Stick this rubber piece on top of the cycletube of one battery using cycle puncture solution.4.Cut a 5cms x 12-cm piece of shoe solerubber for the base of the engine. Insert twophool jhadu sticks in between the battery andthe tube. Make two more holes in the enginebase to fix these sticks.5. Make two holes in the engine rubber base andtie the boiler and the chimney asse<strong>mb</strong>ly to it. Alsofix a rubber canopy on top of the driver’s cabin.6. Make two pairs of wheels using cheap quality plastic show- buttons. Heat the tip of a long sewingneedle and fix it in the centre of one button. Then slip in a 3-cm long piece of used plastic refill in theneedle. Now heat the other end of the needle and fix it in the centre of the second button. Stick twopairs of rubber pieces on the bottom of the engine base. The refill bush/bearings of the wheels willsnap and lock into them. The tanker wagon can be made using a single torch battery. Asse<strong>mb</strong>le theengine and the tanker into a train.
