A REVOLUTIONARY MOTORA rotating electric motor is amazing fan. And this is, by far the simplest electric motor on earth!1. You will need a new, 1.5-volt normal torch battery,1-metre of insulated Copper wire (about 20 gauge) usedfor motor rewinding, one magnet (one from an old radiospeaker will be ideal), one old stove pin or metal file clip, two rubber bands 1-cm wide cut from an old bicyclerube, some thread and ordinary hand tools.2. Take 1-metre of Copper wire (20 gauge).Straighten it by running it through a piece ofcloth . Wind it tightly on a torch battery. Theloops of the wire should be adjacent to oneanother. They should not overlap. The coilshould have about 10 turns.3. When the coil isremoved from thebattery it opens uplike a spring.Copper4. Tie the coil at severalplaces with little bits ofstring. The string will keepthe loops of the coil inplace.Copper5. The two ends of the coilshould jut diametrically outwards. The coil will rotate onthese two ends. So, ensuresymmetry and even distributionof the coil’s weight.6. Now, scrape theenamel from three sidesof the end leads using ablade. The enamel willremain only on thebottom of the end leads.CopperEnamel7. The copper / enamel sequenceleads to make / break of the circuit. This BRUSH or COMMUTATORis the heart of this simple motor. Ifall the enamel is removed from theend leads then the motor will notwork. The coil is now ready.8. Cut an old stove pin into twoor else take two metal file clipseach 7-cm. long.9. With a small nail, hammera hole in each piece nearone end. Hammer one morehole in one piece about2.5-cm. from the other end.10. Salvage an old radiospeaker magnet (standardlaboratory magnets will dowell) and place it on a newbattery with the help of acycle tube rubber band.
