CLAP IN THE AIRGenerations of children have made this simple toy and enjoyed playing with it.1. Take two cardboardsquares of edge 6-cm.Cut V notches in themiddle of two oppositesides.2. Place onepiece on top ofthe other. Alignthe notches andplace a rubberband in itsgroove.3. Now open thecardboard pieceswith both the thu<strong>mb</strong>sand fold them in thereverse direction.4. This stretches therubber band andkeeps it in <strong>ten</strong>sion.5. Now throw these refoldedcardboard pieces upwards.TIK-TIKI6. You will hear anice clap in the air.1. Cut a small rubber bandand weave it through a shirtbuttonhole Tie a knot in thetwo ends of the rubber band2. Take a 50-cm long piece ofthick string Tie a series ofknots along the whole lengthof the string. The distancebetween the knots should be 2to 3-cm. Tie one end of thestring to the button- hole.3. Stretch the rubberband and slide it on asoda water bottle cap.4. Hold the cap in your left hand. Gently press the string with yourright thu<strong>mb</strong> and index finger, and run them along the length of thestring. At each knot the <strong>fingers</strong> slow down and the button hits the capand makes a metallic tap. As the hand runs along the string there willbe a series of tik-tikis.
