You can readily make a workingmodel of a tipper truck - incorporating several simple elements of machines like lever, fulcrum andwheels.1. You will need two emptymatchboxes, an old refill 2 longneedles, 4 buttons, one eraser,blade, matchsticks, candle andsome rubber adhesive like Fevibondor cycle puncture solution.2. Take a matchbox andseparate its drawer from theouter shell. Cut the outer shellso that it fits into the drawer.The cut shell becomes theDRIVER’S CABIN.3. Make a hole in theDriver’s Cabin. Slipanother matchbox shellon the drawer. This willbe the BODY of thetipper.4. Take another drawer. Cut and bendits tongue into the body of the truck.You can either stick this tongue insidethis body, or else you can wedge itwith a piece of matchstick.This swivelling drawer makes theLOADING PLATFORM of thedumper truck.5. Make two pairs of WHEELS using cheapquality show- buttons, 2-cm long pieces ofball pen refills as bearings and long needlesas axles. You need buttons, which melt with ahot needle.6. Cut a rubber eraser into 4 pieces. Stickthese pieces in two pairs below the body.The distance between each pair should beequal to the thickness of a ball pen refill.7. Insert the two pair ofwheels between therubber pieces.8. Insert a matchstickfrom the hole in thedriver’s cabin. Thematchstick lever willact like a lever.9. Load some pebbles as cargo inthe truck. On pressing thematchstick lever from inside thedriver’s cabin, the loading platformwill be raised to unload the cargo.The tipper truck will run verysmoothly on being pushed.
