14Chapter 14: Environmental, Health & SafetyWe are steadfastly committed to providing a safe work environment, and expect all of our on-siteContractors and <strong>Supplier</strong>s to demonstrate an unwavering commitment to safety, at all times,while at our facilities. It is expected that all <strong>Supplier</strong>s to <strong>AK</strong> <strong>Steel</strong> locations conduct business inthe same manner and that goods and services provided to these locations be delivered in a safe,ergonomic, and environmentally friendly condition.As an <strong>AK</strong> <strong>Steel</strong> on-site Contractor or <strong>Supplier</strong>, we expect your company to comply with allapplicable state and federal OSHA standards, policies, and procedures. In addition, we expect allof your employees to abide by <strong>AK</strong> <strong>Steel</strong>’s Safety and Health Rules.It is extremely important for your company to commit to a hands-on approach to safety. Weencourage you to conduct routine safety audits at your company, and we expect you to takeimmediate corrective action when necessary.At <strong>AK</strong> <strong>Steel</strong>, we value our business relationship with your company, and look forward to a safeand successful future.ErgonomicsTo ensure worker safety and loss prevention, package design shall consider all human interaction.For material considered for a small container, these must be manageable by one person, eg. 35lbs. maximum, for instance.<strong>Supplier</strong> Containment – SafetySee Section 7 – <strong>Supplier</strong> Containment for details concerning <strong>Supplier</strong> containment for safetyissues.CMA & Safety Program <strong>Requirements</strong>If you provide labor or services on <strong>AK</strong> <strong>Steel</strong> property you are required to complete our Contractorand Service Providers Master Agreement (CMA), and remain current on your insuranceendorsement and certificates. You are also required to have a safety program in place andapproved by the <strong>AK</strong> <strong>Steel</strong> Safety Department. <strong>Supplier</strong>s that are not signatory to the CMA, arenot current on the insurance certificates, or do not have an approved safety program will beeliminated from on-site use at <strong>AK</strong> <strong>Steel</strong>. If you have any questions concerning the CMA, contactRisk Management at (513-425-5393) and for information about safety approval, contact yourlocal Safety Department Manager.
