AppendixSIMOVERT MASTERDRIVES Vector ControlCertificate for Environment, Resources andRecycling, Certificate ISO 9001Compact PLUS/compact andchassis units · cabinet unitsSiemens AG has committeditself to protecting the environmentand conservingvaluable natural resources.This applies to both manufacturingand the products wesell.As early as the developmentphase, the possible impactof future products and systemson the environment istaken into consideration.Our aim is to prevent environmentalpollution or, atleast, reduce it to a minimum.In doing so, we lookbeyond existing regulationsand legislation.Below are some of the mostimportant environment-relatedaspects which are takeninto account in the design ofSIMOVERT MASTERDRIVES.The use of dangeroussubstances (such as arsenic,asbestos, beryllium, cadmium,CFCs, halogens andmany more) is avoided asearly as the developmentphase.Connections have beendesigned so that they areeasy to service and materialsare selected carefully withpreference being given tothose which can be recycledor disposed of without causingproblems.Materials for manufacturingpurposes are identified inaccordance with their recyclability.This applies, inparticular, to componentswhich contain unavoidable,hazardous materials. Thesecomponents are installed ormounted in such a way thatthey can be easily separated,thus facilitating disposal in anenvironmentally-friendlymanner. Wherever possible,recycled components areused.Environmentally-compatiblepackaging materials (pressedboard and PE foils) are usedfor shipping and storage. Wealso try to keep the amountof packaging material usedto a minimum.If possible we pack our productsin reusable packaging.We have already made preparationsto enable the convertersto be disposed ofafter use in accordance withthe regulations governingthe disposal of electronicequipment (not yet in force).This catalog is printed onchlorine-free bleached paper.All divisions of A&D ofSiemens AG are certified.
